The
Rivington and Adlington Brass Band has had a long history and was
originally founded in 1872 by two citizens known as Robert Owen and
John Miller. At the beginning of the bands formation, Rivington and
Adlington Brass Band was granted a loan of £200 which went towards

purchase of a full set of instruments. This was quickly paid
off. The first band members were residents within Rivington. The
band become very much a family affair with many members of the same
family contributing to the band's success, even if they didn't play
